In 2009 she produced a couple of her own shows and brought Jamaican artists Ce’cile and Demarco to play.
In the last 10 years, she has grown her business into a very profitable one. In the beginning, her children wanted to come to the parties but not all events were kid-friendlyRunDat started throwing her own community family dance parties. Those led to playing more private events, community events and weddings.
She learned quickly the potential to really turn this hobby into a business as the demand for her services started to grow. Tapping into her network of DJ’s, promoters, and artists in her community she fearlessly reached out asking for gigs and playing at bars, festivals, and opening up for world-class acts that would come to town. Any type of event DJ RunDat is always down to bring her contagious positive vibes and music. Music is life and bringing people together through music is what lights her up.
In 2017, not only did she DJ at her favorite festival Reggae on the River but she also Emceed and has shared the stage with artists like Shaggy, Lady Saw, Stephen Marley, Gyptian, J Boog, Collie Buddz, E-40, Sage the Gemini, Everlast, and many more. She has a strong passion for connecting with people through music. She created an online show called, “Queens on Decks,” where she interviews female DJs from around the world. She has a FaceBook group called Female DJs where DJs can connect. It’s a great place to network and support each other in business.
